Shaun Leane Jewellery
For over twenty years, Shaun Leane has redefined the standard of British jewellery design. Fusing innovation with exquisite craftsmanship, the House is known for a timeless elegance that epitomises modern romance. Creator of some of the most admired jewellery masterpieces of the twenty-first century, Shaun Leane is fast becoming one of the world’s pre-eminent jewellery houses.
History of Shaun Leane
Shaun Leane began his journey into the world of fine jewellery at the age of just fifteen. As an apprentice in the craft, he began learning the traditional techniques and set a standard of perfection for every piece he has created since.
The British jewellery designer then went on to cut his teeth in Hatton Garden, London, where he honed his skills in everything from goldsmithing to diamonds and tiaras.
Shaun Leane’s design first hit the runway in 1992, but his craftsmanship and talent really began to be recognised in 1994, when he and the late and great Alexander McQueen forged a partnership that would span both of their careers.
At this point, Shaun Leane had moved beyond gold and diamonds and was now creating designs in silver, aluminium and brass, too for McQueen’s runway shows. The collaboration aimed to shift perceptions of the relationship between fashion and jewellery, which it most certainly did.
Famous pieces designed by the jeweller include the coil corset seen in McQueen’s 1996 Spring Summer fashion show, and the tusk earring. Today, jewellery created by the house is contemporary in design, yet remains true to the traditional ways of crafting beautiful designs.
What makes Shaun Leane jewellery unique?
Shaun Leane jewellery is unique in a number of ways. First is the incredible story behind his rise to the top, of which aspects are present in every design.
For instance, the famous tusk earring initially designed for his Alexander McQueen collaboration has gone on to become one of his most iconic pieces, which has also inspired many of the items available today. These sculptural jewellery pieces now enjoy a cult following.
Every piece is also designed with the same level of care for detail that he was held to by his masters as an apprentice, meaning wearers can expect high quality and longevity from every item.
The house follows a strict policy which ensures designs are only crafted from precious or semi-precious gemstones. All diamonds are traceable and from non-conflict sources.
