Because the central diamond stands alone, the choice of cut becomes the defining decision. Each shape is distinct and the solitaire setting is where that distinction is most fully expressed.

Round brilliant solitaires are the most widely chosen, with their symmetrical form and exceptional light return making them consistently popular across generations. Oval solitaires deliver exceptional brilliance in an elongated outline. Pear cut solitaires taper to a point at one end, creating a distinctive directional shape. Marquise cut stones have an elongated form with pointed ends that maximise the visible surface of the diamond. Princess cut solitaires offer a square silhouette with outstanding brilliance. Emerald cut solitaires have an architectural quality, with long step-cut facets that emphasise clarity and depth over light return.
