Introducing the New Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400

Calibre 400 - The new standard

The key talking point of this new Oris watch is its movement. The watch is powered by the brand’s recent Calibre 400 development and sets a whole new standard for the power, precision and prolonged life of luxury timekeeping.

Key features of the Oris Calibre 400 movement include:

Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400

Five day power reserve

While three day power reserves flood the market, the brand set out to do one better. It might not be quite up to par with the Calibre 110, which gives higher end Oris models a 10 day reserve, but the Calibre 400’s generous five day offering is a worthy market contender.

The brand recognises the changing behaviours of its customers, understanding that ‘everyday’ watches are not necessarily worn everyday anymore. Its solution to the problem this causes, notably, the running down of power after a couple days break, is the revolutionary Calibre 400.

Its five day power reserve means that even with these short breaks between wears, the watch will still be running when you come to put it back on. This is thanks to a twin barrel feature which house extended mainsprings that are long enough to store two and a half days of power, each.

A brand new bearing system

Typical automatic mechanical watches feature a ball-bearing system, whereby a free-spinning oscillating mass (or rotor) spins in order to generate power to store in the mainsprings. This, in turn, keeps the watch running.

The Calibre 400 however, has reinvented the bearing system with a more reliable slide-bearing one. This only rotates in one direction, reducing the complexity of the mechanism and enabling it to be more resistant to wear and tear as time passes.

Anti-magnetic escapement

In our everyday lives, we are exposed to a series of strong magnetic forces and typically, these take a toll on traditional Swiss watch movements. This can cause watches to become less accurate or even grind to a complete halt. However, the Calibre 400 is different.

It features 30 non-ferrous and anti-magnetic competents, which includes a silicon escape wheel and anchor. These have enabled the Calibre 400 to become highly anti-magnetic.

Proof of this, the movement has undergone rigorous testing, including by the Laboratoire Dubois. After being exposed to 2,250 gauss, the Calibre 400 deviated by less than 10 seconds. Usually, watches deviate by 30 seconds after exposure to 200 gauss - so, you do the math.

The benefit to the user? A watch that is much more reliable, accurate and precise.

10 year warranty

Oris is so confident in its Calibre 400 development that it is offering customers a 10 year warranty, if they register their watch with the brand.

As well as this, service intervals have also been extended to every 10 years, which is twice as long as many other luxury watch brands’ recommendations. Get yours today and you won’t have to worry about getting it serviced until at least 2030.

Ultimately, the Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 is the new standard of timekeeping. Enjoy the power and precision provided by its innovative movement, while showcasing style and sophistication with its iconic watch design.
