This watch design is inspired by the view from the Shinshu Watch Studio, where the Hotaka Mountains stand tall, formed by the volcanic activity of the past. With a height of over 3000m, they have steep slopes and rough cliffs from erosion by the wind, snow and ice. The Grand Seiko watchmakers’ pride in their surroundings is regularly represented in their designs – from engineering watch movements which emulate the smooth motion of time passing, to creating dials reflecting the beauty of Japanese nature. The dial of this model represents the incredible power of the Earth, through its green pattern. The highlands at Hotaka have a short summer, so the deep green colour reflects the vast vegetation on the rich volcanic soil.
