The sixteenth Sekki of ‘Shubun,’ meaning ‘The Autumnal Equinox,’ marks the beginning of autumn, heavily associated with the moon in Japan, celebrated at seasonal moon-viewing events such as ‘Otsukimi.’ The dial of this Grand Seiko expresses the moonlit sky covered in autumnal clouds. The design builds on the heritage of the 62GS – the first Grand Seiko with automatic winding – launched in 1967 and popular ever since, with its distinct aesthetic and recognisable case shape.
